Aarcher is seeking a Safety Manager based out of Antioch, IL who be responsible for the development, deployment and continuous improvement of programs and systems that support safety excellence for 3 manufacturing plants with the primary goal of reducing loss and liability. This position will foster a culture of proactivity, accountability, engagement and sustainability through robust programs and processes lead safety matters to ensure the company meets corporate and industry requirements, as well as best practice standards. Ideal candidate will have a safety management background in manufacturing industry and be bilingual speaking English and Spanish
RESPONSIBILITES:
- Development, implementation, and management of safety programs (LOTO, Hazard Communication, Emergency Response, Fall Protection, Hearing Conservation, etc.) to ensure compliance with OSHA
- Manage workers’ compensation loss control program, which includes monitoring claim levels, reducing costs, and early return to work
- Investigate accidents, prepare and maintain required reports. Identify countermeasures to prevent reoccurrence
- Provide new hire orientation outlining the company’s high expectations regarding safety rules and regulations.
- Integrate and partner with the operations team to promote a proactive safety culture focused on incident prevention and regulatory compliance
- Organize and participate in safety committee activities
- Develop specific safety objectives and create actions plans to meet those objectives
- Maintain, review and report safety performance, identifying opportunities for improvement along with implementing preventative and corrective actions as required
- Conduct internal safety audits to ensure regulatory compliance
- Work with site leadership team to ensure all key safety operational controls are in place and safety action items are resolved on a timely basis
- Develop, deliver and/or coordinate safety training and training tools
- Manage and maintain site specific internal safety systems and reporting tools
- Ensure timely coordination of all regulatory or company required testing and training, including industrial hygiene testing as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university with a major in occupational safety or a closely related field
- 8-10 years of relevant safety experience, preferably in a high-speed, high-volume manufacturing environment
- Travel would be required as necessary to conduct safety audits. Able to travel locally 25% of time.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- OSHA certification preferred
- Bi-lingual English and Spanish communication
- CSP certification
SCHEDULE:
- Monday through Friday day shift. Weekend as needed.
