Title: Natural Resources Specialist
Location: Topeka, KS
Aarcher, Inc., is seeking a natural resources professional with at least 2 years experience to support natural and cultural resources programs for government-owned land in Kansas. This is a full-time, temporary position but offers the potential to lead to a permanent position. The initial position will be from 6 to 12 months.
Successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree in a science field, preferably biology, natural resources, environmental science, ecology, conservation, or related field and a minimum of two (2) years experience, preferably as a biologist, natural resources specialist, or cultural resources specialist.
Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Planning, development, and field work relating to natural resources inventories
- Conducting field work to gather data on sensitive and game species and their habitats
- Overseeing contractors that are preparing Endangered Species Management Plans for threatened and endangered species
- Identifying and implementing measures to protect wetlands and other sensitive areas
- Reviewing and updating an existing natural resource management plan, including identifying annual projects to implement the plan
- Supporting an existing cultural resources management program
A military background is considered a plus.
