Aarcher has an opportunity for an H&S Manger for a client in the Albany, NY area with a great work environment and culture.  In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining health and safety for the plant's operations according to applicable regulations and policy.  Ideal candidate will have a background in mine safety, heavy manufacturing, or an industrial background.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures MSHA regulatory compliance at all levels of plant operation
  • Inspects and evaluates workplace environments, equipment, and work practices, to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations.
  • Administers Workers Compensation Program including reviewing accident reports for thoroughness of investigations and adequacy of corrective actions. Performs analysis to identify trends and causes plus implements measures to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Develops and maintains plant safety training requirements. Coordinates and supports training efforts, including safety new hire orientation, user-level training, and periodic refresher training such as MSHA New Miner Training, MSHA Annual Refresher Training, Site Specific Contractor Training and HAZWOPER
  • Reports EHS trends and makes recommendations for continuous improvement to management staff.
  • Responsible for filling MSHA & OSHA reports as required.
  • Oversees plant safety committee to ensure engagement of plant personnel in EHS-related activities.
  • Coordinates “right-to-know” HAZCOM programs regarding hazardous chemicals and other substance.
  • Ensures facility meets all local, State and Federal safety/environmental standards.
  • Develops and maintains medical monitoring programs for employees.
  • Develops and maintains appropriate PPE for plant applications.
  • Maintains and updates emergency response plans and procedures.
  • Develops and maintains hygiene programs such as noise surveys, continuous atmosphere monitoring.
  • Assists in monitoring site contractors for compliance with contract Safety & Health requirements

Qualifications

  • 5 years minimum of MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) Part 46 regulatory oversight for training, reporting and safety and health standards.
  • Mining operations knowledge & experience
  • Proficiency in driving a successful safety culture. Lead the charge with all Team members through forging relationships that inspire growth and success.
  • Exceptional communication, both written and oral, and interpersonal abilities; organization and attention to detail.
