Corporate EHS Manager

A growing producer of ultra-pure chemical products is seeking a Corporate EHS Manager to lead the environmental and safety programs from Moses Lake, WA.   Ideal candidate will have EHS experience in an industrial or chemical manufacturing background and enjoy splitting their time in the office and being hands-on in the manufacturing plant. 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Environmental and Safety programs and personnel
  • Assure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations for all aspects and manage communications and maintain positive relationships with outside regulatory agencies at the local, state, and federal level.
  • Implement and maintain the ISO 14001/45001 EHSSMS systems and certifications.
  • Manage the activities of environmental engineering including obtaining permits for new processes, assuring existing operations compliance including submitting information needed for air, water, waste, TSCA, RMP and other related reporting systems.
  • Assess and report air and water emissions, waste disposal and spill reports. Identify and lead appropriate efforts under TSCA as needed to obtain approval for the use and manufacture of new chemicals.
  • Manage the EHSS Department budget.
  • Manage the activities of the EHSS Safety staff, EHSS Environmental Engineering staff, EHSS Haz-Com staff, EHSS Waste Management staff, and Security staff.
  • Direct the activities of outside contractors and consultants

Requirements:

  • 5+ years demonstrated EH&S leadership experience.
  • MS Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent academic level background to be able to assess and implement complex testing programs air, water, waste emissions associated with complex chemical plant operations. 
  • Experience in the design, permitting, installation and compliance testing for air, water, and waste management processes.
  • Lead Auditor certification in ISO with either specific training in the subset of ISO 14001 or 45001 and ability to lead and respond to certification audits.
  • Knowledge and experience in detailed complex permitting processes and compliance strategies for all environmental, safety and related matters.
  • Experience in negotiations and management of significant non-compliance agency enforcement actions and their resolution.  This includes working with internal and external legal counsel.
  • Knowledge and use of EMS software preferred
