Responsibilities:
- Actively participates in the plants efforts to engage the entire workforce to build a strong EHS culture that leads to zero harm to our employees and the environment by making recommendations for changes and lead site management team
- Lead and drive EHSS initiatives and processes at the site to reduce risk, drive safe and planet friendly behaviors and practices
- Elevate the plant site safety performance by improving and fostering a safety culture
- Verify and ensure the compliance with company and governmental safety and environmental program requirements through inspection, risk assessments, site audits and evaluation of the environment/facility, equipment and processes in work areas
- Improve existing programs and create new programs that drive EHS excellence.
- Continuous improvement mindset – research and evaluate evolving EHS trends and legislation; stay informed regarding emerging sustainability issues and best practices; identify opportunities for collaboration and assist with development of policy recommendations
- Document and handle injuries, incident investigations; analyze injury trends, coordinate corrective actions, perform root cause analysis and aggressive action planning and execution to prevent future repeat incidents at the plant and across the company
- Oversee, develop and implement programs, policies, systems, and processes to ensure governmental and company compliance
- Coordinate all safety audits, job hazard analyses, and EHS assessments, environmental activities, corporate EHS programs and initiatives, special projects, evaluations.
- Responsible for all EHSS information, EHSS activities, training documents, safety training, accident records, OSHA 300 log and OSHA inspections, reports, emergency procedures, compliance, initiatives and program implementation, etc
- Investigate and inspect from federal, state and local regulatory agencies; Strategize, review regulations, prepare EHS reports and renew applications.
- High visibility in the plant floor, engage and build relationship; safety Gemba Walks and Kaizen promotor.
Requirements:
- Bachelor degree preferred– Safety, OHS or Environmental discipline, engineering, business management, or related discipline or equivalent work experience -Extensive knowledge of environmental and safety laws and requirements
- 5 years EHS experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment; ISO preferred (ISO 14000, 9000, 45000 preferred)Aware of federal compliance EHS/OSHA/EPA regulations and standards. SWPPP, EPCRA, EPA TIER II, basic industrial hygiene, conservation program -OSHA 300 log and inspections (filing/reporting), EPA knowledge and experience
