Aarcher Talent is seeking a Senior Environmental, Health and Safety Manager who will lead all EHS programs across manufacturing facilities. Position can be based out of Seymour, CT or Milford, NH and will work closely with Operations leadership and employees, this role will be responsible for Identifying opportunities in local site Environmental and safety programs, utilizing metrics to develop strategic direction for the platform’s overall safety strategy. Looking for an energetic personality to engage with the production floor to ensure open communication on safety matters and engagement at all levels of the organization.
Environmental Responsibilities
- Provides guidance and supervisory oversight for all environmental activities related to PCBs, environmental management system (EMS), oil spill prevention and cleanup, environmental site assessments, hazardous waste, asbestos, hazardous materials transportation, underground storage tanks, NPDES permits, recycling, drinking water, inland wetlands, and SPCC Plans, etc.; ensures compliance with federal and state laws and regulations related to same.
- Recordkeeping, compliance, and training.
- Environmental regulations in areas such as air quality, waste, clean water, and pollution
- Coordinates the development and establishment of environmental goals and key metrics for the various sites.
EHS Responsibilities
- Responsible for providing EHS guidance, resources, and support to site operations. Assures compliance with policies and local, state, and federal EHS regulations and statutes for site operations.
- Coordinates activities related to site compliance with local, state, and federal EHS regulations or statutes. Collects data, tracks and reports EHS metrics timely and accurately for the group.
- Supports and assists with activities surrounding the implementation, training, and maintenance of Company EHS procedures, policies, and management systems.
- Works with appropriate departments to develop new-hire EHS training; conducts annual training for employees per specific OSHA, DOT and EPA regulations and Company procedure. Assures retraining is conducted when employees are exposed to a new risk.
- Develop and implement accident investigations, data analysis and recurrence prevention programs and procedures. Use identified Safety Committee members where appropriate in the carrying out of accident investigations or other safety related programs.
- Conduct a pre-operational safety review of newly installed equipment by coordinating a team of associated personnel to include Manufacturing Engineers, Managers, Supervisors, and others as determined necessary.
- Investigate and evaluate new safety equipment for use. Create and conduct training programs to increase proficiency in safe practices and promote safety consciousness for all employees. Prepare and arrange health and safety exhibits and displays. Maintain all environmental, health and safety files and records for the Company.
- Supports the proper receiving, handling, labeling, storage, transportation, record keeping, reporting and management of hazardous materials and hazardous waste.
- Spends time on the production floor, soliciting information from and answering questions for employees; auditing or assessing workstations and areas and provide suggestions and ideas for improvements.
- Maintains site EHS records and prepare required EHS government reports in a timely manner.
- Keeps current on local, state, and federal OSHA, DOT and EPA regulations and requirements pertinent with on-going training and research.
- Coordinates and supports site audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with EHS regulations, company policy, property protection and security. Acts as the site representative for external and internal compliance audits.
- Engage others, promote, and participate in Environmental, Health, and Safety initiatives, focusing on continuous improvement.
Requirements:
- B.S. Degree in Occupational Safety, Health & Environment Technology or relevant field required.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with actual hands-on production floor involvement and experience in performing EH&S tasks.
- Knowledge of State and Federal/OSHA/VOSHA Guidelines and Regulations.
- Proven technical skills and reasoning ability, as well as sound analytical skills to isolate the variables that cause problems and identify appropriate corrective actions.
- Good verbal and written communication skills along with strong interpersonal and leadership skills as well.
- Demonstrate good computer skills in Word, Excel, Power Point.
- Team player with staff colleagues and a developer of teamwork skills within designated areas of responsibility.
- Technical knowledge of and managerial experience with environmental, health and safety issues and regulations required.
- Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections.
Preferred Requirement
- CSP & CEP Certifications a plus
Physical Requirements
- Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time
