Aarcher is seeking an experienced Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Leader for our client in the agricultural industry.  In this role, you will develop and implement environmental, health, and safety programs and tools for their 6 sites that put people first while ensuring compliance with customer, local, state, and federal regulations. You will work closely with leaders throughout the organization to identify and mitigate potential risks to team members, the environment, and the community.  Ideal candidates will have a strong background in EHS management and a proven track record of building and sustaining a committed, caring safety culture.


RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Analyze and evaluate current state of EHS programs, policies, and practices for both compliance and alignment to culture
  • Build and implement scalable environmental, health, and safety programs, tools and systems that put people first, strengthen safety culture, minimize, and eliminate safety risks and occupational hazards, and ensure compliance with customer, local, state, and federal regulations
  • Develop and support the delivery of comprehensive safety training programs
  • Cultivate a network of Safety Champions throughout the organization to drive consistent safety leadership, promote safety culture, and engage all team members in key initiatives
  • Support the completion of regular inspections and audits, to identify potential hazards/areas for improvement and close any gaps
  • Support the thorough investigation of Near Misses and safety incidents to identify root cause/s, develop corrective action plans, and implement needed changes
  • Establish standards and methods for measuring EHS performance, and develop a visible dashboard to ensure ongoing recognition, corrective action, and learning
  • Prepare and present actionable reports to leadership on EHS performance metrics and goals
  • Prepare EHS compliance reports as required by leadership and outside organizations
  • Lead all external audits related to safety or environmental compliance
  • Ensure compliance with environmental permitting, reporting, and sampling requirements across all sites, with partnership from leadership and 3rd party partners as needed
  • Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies, industry associations, and other stakeholders
  • Support emergency response planning and drills
  • Other responsibilities and projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, occupational health and safety, or related field preferred
  • 5+ years’ experience in EHS leadership, preferably in a lean manufacturing or production environment
  • Professional Safety or Environmental certifications a plus
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant EHS regulations and standards
  • Proven leadership through influence
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally, and to engage team members at all levels
  • Strong systems thinking and a successful track record of building scalable systems for changing and enhancing safety culture
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with incident investigation and root cause analysis
  • Experience and skill with Microsoft Office suite
  • Willingness to travel domestically up to 20%

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Industrial warehouse environment.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: Safety glasses, steel-toe safety shoes, hardhat, long sleeved shirt and pants and hearing protection.
